Első alkalommal adott otthont Budapest bírói és edzői konferenciának, a Nemzetközi Cheer Szövetség (ICU) és a Magyar Cheer Szövetség közös szervezésében. Az eseményre 24 országból közel 160 edző és bíró érkezett.
2025. október 3–5. között Budapest adott otthont az ICU European Coaches and Judges Conference 2025 rendezvénynek, amelyre 24 országból érkeztek cheerleading edzők és bírók. A háromnapos esemény a sportág egyik legfontosabb európai szakmai találkozója, ahol közel 160 résztvevő osztotta meg egymással a tapasztalatokat, új ismereteket szereztek, és közösen dolgoztak a kontinens cheerleading-közösségének fejlesztésén.
A konferenciának az ELTE Pedagógiai és Pszichológiai Kara adott otthont, ahol az esemény péntek este egy kötetlen Meet & Greet találkozóval indult, amely lehetőséget biztosított a kapcsolatépítésre és az új résztvevők üdvözlésére. A résztvevőket külön köszöntötte többek között Simon Gábor, a Magyar Cheer Szövetség elnöke, Karl Olson, az ICU főtitkára, Mike Cooper szakmai vezető és Anne Achté, a Bírói Konferencia szervezője is.
Edzők és bírók együtt a sportág fejlődéséért
A program két fő szekcióban zajlott: az edzők és a bírók különböző előadásokon vehettek részt, szombaton és vasárnap párhuzamosan, de számos ponton közös programokon is volt lehetőségük találkozni.
Az edzők szekciójában olyan neves szakemberek tartottak előadásokat, mint
- Katarina Eriksson, aki a svéd szövetségben végzett munkájáról beszélt, kiemelve az etika és a gyermekvédelem fontosságát a cheer sportban,
- Lasse Arnesen, a norvég coed válogatott csapat edzője, aki a coed csapatokkal kapcsolatos kihívásokra keresett megoldást,
- Matevž Remškar, a szlovén all girl válogatott edzője, aki a legmagasabb szintű, premier kategória piramis technikával ismertette meg az edzőket,
- Mija Schrey, a finn coed válogatott edzője, aki az utánpótlás korosztállyal kapcsolatban beszélt a fiú sportolók bevonásának a nehézségeiről,
- Andre Nesset, a norvég coed válogatott edzője, aki a profi edzői csapat felépítéséről, illetve a kiegészítő erőfejlesztő edzések fontosságáról is tartott előadást a konferencia résztvevőinek.
A programban kiemelt szerepet kaptak a bírói nézőpontból tartott előadások, az Ausztriából érkező Ursula Hann a szabály változásokról tartott előadást, a finn Anne Achté pedig a 2025-ös Európa bajnoksággal kapcsolatban osztotta meg bírói tapasztalatait. Mike Cooper, az ICU Worlds főbírója szintén hasznos információkat osztott meg az edzőkkel a 2026-tól életbe lépő irányelvvel kapcsolatban.
A bírók konferenciája ezzel párhuzamosan a szabályértelmezés, a pontozás és a nemzetközi tapasztalatcsere köré épült. A résztvevők megvitatták az ICU versenyekre vonatkozó új irányelveket, a live scoring technikákat, valamint a konstruktív visszajelzésekről és az edzőkkel való kommunikációról és konfliktuskezelésről is hallgathattak előadásokat.
Egy közös európai közösség
A szombat délutáni közös networking szünet és a vasárnapi záró program lehetőséget adott arra, hogy a bírók és az edzők egymás munkáját is jobban megismerjék. A konferencia egyik legfontosabb üzenete az volt, hogy a cheerleading fejlődése csak közös szakmai párbeszéd és együttműködés révén lehetséges.
A Magyar Cheer Szövetség számára külön büszkeség, hogy ilyen rangos esemény házigazdája lehetett, amely erősíti hazánk szerepét a nemzetközi cheerleading közösségben.
A rendezvény fő szponzora az Nfinity Athletic Corporation, melynek alapítója, Tate Chalk személyesen köszöntötte a konferencia résztvevőit, emellett minden résztvevő hazavihetett egy Nfinity táskát is. A konferenciát a Varsity is támogatta, amely képviselője szintén jelen volt az eseményen.
International Cheerleading Conference in Budapest – Experts from 24 Countries Discussed the Future of the Sport
For the first time, Budapest hosted a judges’ and coaches’ conference organized by the International Cheer Union (ICU) and the Hungarian Cheerleading Federation. Nearly 160 coaches and judges from 24 countries attended the event.
From October 3–5, the ICU European Coaches and Judges Conference took place in Budapest, bringing together cheerleading coaches and judges from across Europe. The three-day event is one of the most significant professional gatherings for the sport on the continent, where nearly 160 participants shared experiences, gained new knowledge, and worked together to advance the European cheerleading community.
The conference was hosted by Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE). It opened on Friday evening with an informal Meet & Greet, providing an opportunity for networking and welcoming new participants. Among those who greeted the attendees were Gábor Simon, President of the Hungarian Cheerleading Federation; Karl Olson, Secretary General of the ICU; Mike Cooper, Technical Director; and Anne Achté, organizer of the Judges’ Conference.
Coaches and Judges Working Together for the Development of the Sport
The program featured two main sections — one for coaches and one for judges — with parallel sessions on Saturday and Sunday, as well as several joint programs. In the coaches’ section, presentations were delivered by renowned professionals, including:
- Katarina Eriksson, who discussed her work with the Swedish federation, emphasizing the importance of ethics and child protection in cheerleading.
- Lasse Arnesen, coach of Norway’s coed national team, who addressed the challenges of working with coed teams.
- Matevž Remškar, coach of Slovenia’s all-girl national team, who presented advanced pyramid techniques used at the premier level.
- Mija Schrey, coach of Finland’s coed national team, who spoke about the challenges of involving male athletes in youth and junior programs.
- Andre Nesset, also from Norway’s coed national team, who discussed building a professional coaching staff and the importance of strength training.
Presentations from a judges’ perspective also played a central role in the program. Ursula Hann from Austria gave an overview of recent rule changes, while Anne Achté from Finland shared judging insights related to the 2025 European Championships. Mike Cooper, head judge of the ICU Worlds, provided valuable updates on the new guidelines coming into effect in 2026.
Meanwhile, the judges’ conference focused on rule interpretation, scoring systems, and international knowledge exchange. Participants discussed new ICU competition guidelines, live scoring techniques, and attended lectures on providing constructive feedback, communication, and conflict resolution between judges and coaches.
Building a United European Community
The Saturday afternoon networking break and Sunday’s closing session offered further opportunities for coaches and judges to gain a deeper understanding of each other’s work. One of the conference’s key messages was that the development of cheerleading is only possible through ongoing professional dialogue and collaboration.
For the Hungarian Cheerleading Federation, hosting such a prestigious event was an honour, strengthening Hungary’s role within the international cheerleading community.
